This Sunday Art Rickshaw hosted second edition after successfully hosted Unicorn Street Art Festival 2018. This year they change the festival name to Kolkata Arts Lane Festival 2019. It was take place at Popular lane nearby Gariahat called Hindustan Park 2nd lane. It’s famous for street art during Durga Puja Festival.
KALFest 2019 happened on 6th of January 2019 , Sunday – Kolkata’s first arts lane festival.
Imagine yourself strolling through a lane with art installations and Artwork from around the country – while eating your favorite snacks and garam chai, under a cascade of fairy lights and a crisp winter chill all while waltzing to some fun beats. If that’s not a perfect Sunday, we don’t know what is!
One of the installation was done by using Utkarsh India’s PVC pipes. This installation was one of the highlights of the Kolkata Arts Lane Festival, 2019.
One such artwork which amazed all was the one created by architect Abin Chaudhuri. The installation formed a threshold, marking the festive street and entangling people in the art as they enter. Following the theme of the fest –Memphis Arts Movement, the pipes formed a 3D maze like sculpture. One had to find their way through this interactive piece of urban art to get to the other side of the street.
Abin Chaudhuri has graduated from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 1998, thereafter pursuing Industrial Design at Domus Academy, Milan. Abin Chaudhuri describes himself as a creative mind constantly in the process of exploration of new thoughts and ideas, new materials and technology, drawing inspiration from ordinary things. He believes in extensive research work and being open to what’s happening worldwide and is extremely passionate about the work he does.
Utkarsh, as the name suggests, is a responsive business house committed to bettering the quality of life. Utkarsh India is closely linked to various areas of infrastructural development and growth in this country, from railways, telecom and highways etc. The embedded philosophy of the brand statement “Life Demands, We Deliver”, symbolizes that the company will always deliver responding to the ever changing demands of life which has made the company reach a revenue of 1000 crore in less than 10 years.
It was great Sunday from morning to night lots of event, workshop, performance and others thing constantly happening, very good footfall during this time. Some people also comparing this festival with Mumbai – kKala Ghoda festival. Overall great education and entertainment blending hoping next year will be more unique.
Armenians celebrated Christmas every year on 6th January at Armenian Church, Kolkata or Armenian Church of the Holy Nazareth. This is very interesting to see those rituals and activities, Though last two year they did not allow photographers/filmmakers to shoot their rituals without prior permission of there new father of Armenian Church Kolkata. But back then they allow photographers/filmmakers to shoot. The reason maybe crowded, privacy & other things. I was there to document Armenian Christmas celebration at Armenian Church, Kolkata or Armenian Church of the Holy Nazareth, unfortunately that year father was changed and they not allowing to photograph/film year of 2016 . If you want to photograph/film you need a permission from father (from Armenian College) before hand this festival.

The gender and sexual minority communities are quite diverse and so not everyone in the community has the same experiences. Everyone has a unique story and we want to hear yours. So we are committed to providing you with an enabling space where you can share your story and listen to the stories of other like-minded people. So let us celebrate the diverse range of identities and experiences in the queer and other marginalized communities through literature.
Kolkata Queer Lit Fest, 2019 is being organised under the banner of Kolkata Rainbow Week, which is an initiative of the West Bengal Forum for Gender and Sexual Minority Rights. Kolkata Rainbow Week is a collectivist approach of several NGOs, allies, and other informal network working in Kolkata and its surrounding districts to organize several events pertaining to queer and other marginalized lives between January 5 and January 13, 2019.

প্রান্তিক লিঙ্গ ও যৌন সম্প্রদায় সহ অন্যান্য প্রান্তিক সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষদের প্রতিদিনের বেঁচে থাকার কথা, তাঁদের জীবনের রোজনামচা, লড়াই, সম্পর্কগুলো, বা যৌনতা, বা ডিপ্রেশনের মুহুর্ত, একা থাকার ইচ্ছা বা একা থাকার অভ্যাস, ইত্যাদি সবকিছুর সাহিত্যিক বা কাব্যিক রুপগুলিকে তুলে ধরতেই মূলতঃ কোলকাতা ক্যুয়ার লীট ফেস্টের কথা ভাবা। আমরা অনেকেই জানি যে প্রান্তিক লিঙ্গ ও যৌন সম্প্রদায় কেবলমাত্র একধরণের মানুষের গোষ্ঠী নয়। আমাদের মধ্যে বিভিন্নতা আছে, আমাদের মধ্যে অনেকরকমের মানুষ নিজেদের পরিচয় এবং অভিব্যক্তি নিয়ে আছেন। ফলে তাঁদের প্রত্যেকের অভিজ্ঞতাও বিভিন্ন, প্রতিটি মানুষের কিছু গল্প বলার থাকে। কেউ সেটাকে গল্পের আকারে লেখেন, কেউ কবিতার আকারে, কেউ বা এখাধিক মানুষের গল্প, কবিতাকে একত্রিত করে পত্রিকা প্রকাশ করেন, কেউ বা সেইসব পত্রিকার সম্পাদনার কাজে যুক্ত থাকেন। এবং আমরা সেইসমস্ত গল্প-কবিতা, তাঁদের কাজের কথা শুনতে চাই আরো বেশি করে। কোলকাতা ক্যুয়ার সাহিত্য উতসবের মাধ্যমে আমরা এমন একটা প্ল্যাটফর্ম আমাদেরকে দিতে দৃঢ়প্রতিজ্ঞ যেখানে আমরা সবাই নির্ভয়ে নিজেদের কথা বলতে পারব, অপরের সাথে ভাগ করে নিতে পারব বিশেষ মুহুর্তে লেখা কিছু গল্প-কবিতা। হয়তো আমাদের সেই না বলা কথা, না পড়া কবিতারা আরো কিছু মানুষকে উদ্বুদ্ধ করবে নিজেদের পরিচয় নিয়ে সমাজের চোখের দিকে চোখ রেখে বেঁচে থাকার লড়াইটা চালিয়ে যেতে। তাই আসুন না, সবাই মিলে জীবনের অভিজ্ঞতার সেই না বলা কথাগুলোকে একে অন্যের সাথে ভাগ করে নিই।
কোলকাতা ক্যুয়ার সাহিত্য উৎসব এই বছর কোলকাতা রেইনবো উইক বা সপ্তাহের ব্যনারে অনুষ্ঠিত হতে চলেছে। কোলকাতা রেইনবো উইক হল ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল ফোরাম ফর জেন্ডার এন্ড সেক্সুয়াল মাইনরিটি রাইটস নামক ইনফর্মাল কালেক্টিভের পক্ষ থেকে নেওয়া উদ্যোগ, যেখানে প্রায় ১০ দিন ব্যাপী কোলকাতা এবং তার পার্শ্ববর্তী এলাকায় ক্যুয়ার এবং অন্যান্য প্রান্তিক মানুষদের নিয়ে কাজ করা কিছু সংগঠণ এবং অন্যান্য কালেক্টিভের পক্ষ থেকে বিভিন্ন ইভেন্ট করার কথা ভাবা হচ্ছে। কোলকাতা ক্যুয়ার লীট ফেস্ট এবং কোলকাতা রেইনবো কার্নিভাল, ২০১৯ এই উদ্যোগের অংশ। তাই আসুন, কোলকাতা ক্যুয়ার সাহিত্য উৎসব সহ অন্যান্য ইভেন্টে যোগদান করুন, যাতে আমরা সবাই মিলে আমাদের মধ্যেকার বিভিন্নতাকে আরো একবার উদযাপন করি।
